Artist Statement – High Tea

In High Tea, I wanted to capture a moment suspended between whimsy and wonder, where reality and fantasy intertwine. The composition plays with weightlessness—an ethereal woman floats amidst the clouds, her hair reaching skyward as if caught in an unseen current. She holds a delicate teacup, a symbol of tradition and refinement, yet hummingbirds—symbols of joy and lightness—steal golden ribbons that once tethered kites to the ground.

This piece explores the tension between control and surrender, the ritual of tea juxtaposed against the unpredictable flight of the birds. It asks: How much of life do we attempt to hold still, and how much must we let go? The dreamlike atmosphere invites the viewer to step into a world where gravity is defied, where the mundane becomes magical, and where the simplest of gestures—lifting a teacup—can transport us into the extraordinary.

Our prints are made in batches of 50 and are created using Archival Ink to Etching Rag. This is 100% cotton Fine Art paper with a smooth texture, reminiscent of the original genuine etching and printmaking . The prints are then coated in Varnish to protect the artwork.
