My trip to QAGOMA in Brisbane to see the European Masterpieces Exhibition was truly amazing. The exhibition consisted of European artworks dating back as far as the 13th century, usually displayed at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. It was such an honour to be in the presence of such beautiful, well-renowned works of art by artists I have admired for years. Although it is very hard to choose I would have to say that my favourite was Young Woman Drawing by Marie-Denise Villers (bottom-middle). A beautiful artwork that perfectly catches the light of the window on the gorgeous young woman, painted by a very talented young woman, Marie-Denise, during a time when women painting was frowned upon. Every aspect of this painting brings wonder and peace to the hearts of those who admire it.
